As public safety professionals our officers obtain their standard first aid and CPR training regularly. As an enhancement to that training this year, ERPD officers received Tactical Casualty Care. This training is a growing trend in law enforcement coinciding with the increase in tactical training associated with active shooter incidents. The training provides officers the skills necessary to treat yourself or another officer in the event of a gunshot wound or other catastrophic injury when involved in an incident and be able to do so while sustaining the fight if necessary.
